Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask before working with us, in one place.

AI Native Software Development

About the Service and Its ScopeWhat kind of projects do they work on?

We build complex digital products: SaaS web platforms, native or hybrid mobile apps (iOS/Android), system integrations, and AI-powered tools (Agentic Workflows). We don’t build static websites or generic e-commerce sites. We build software that solves critical business problems.

About the Service and Its ScopeWhat is the minimum size of a project?

We focus on ambitious projects that need to scale. If you're not sure whether your budget is a good fit for us, use our project calculator—it takes 2 minutes—or schedule a quick call for an honest answer.

About the Service and Its ScopeWhat is the minimum duration of a project?

Cheap things end up costing more, and 10 done quickly ends up broken. For technical integrity, our minimum timeline is 1 month. Any shorter is a technical debt. Any longer is a smart investment.

On AI and Speed¿Cómo usan exactamente la IA en el desarrollo?

We don’t hand the wheel over to the machine, nor do we use it merely as a code autocomplete tool. We work Al-Native: before writing a single line of code, we define a specification that serves as a contract, and our agents execute within our own harness—an environment with rules, limits, and automatic verification—where nothing is taken for “granted” until the tests pass. That approach is what allows us to move twice as fast without sacrificing quality. AI provides speed; our senior engineers provide 10 things that AI cannot: architecture, security, business judgment, and the guarantee that what we deliver actually works in production.

On AI and SpeedWhat does “2x faster” really mean?

This means that a project that takes a traditional agency 6 months, we can deliver in 4 to 8 weeks. We achieve this through three key strategies: we eliminate bureaucracy, we work with agents using a framework that ensures reliable and repeatable results, and—above all—we cut out features that don’t impact your ROI from day one. It’s not about typing faster. It’s about building only what matters, with a system that prevents rework.

On the Budget and ValueHow do you protect my budget?

With radical honesty. If there’s a tool that costs $50 USD a month and solves your problem, we’ll tell you to integrate it instead of charging you thousands to build it from scratch. If a feature isn’t going to make an impact, we’ll suggest you skip it. Your money goes only to the 10 things that create real value.

About Work ModelsWhat is the difference between Managed Teams and Staff Augmentation?

At Managed Teams, we take full ownership of the technical delivery from start to finish. You provide the vision; we take care of the rest. With Staff Augmentation, we provide you with senior engineers who integrate into your processes and work under your management and technical leadership.

About Work ModelsDo I need technical knowledge to work with you?

No. If you have a clear vision for your business, we’ll translate that vision into technical architecture. We speak your language: retention, impact, and ROI. Not just coding jargon.

About the Team and the OperationWhere is your team located?

We have offices in Medellín (Colombia) and Orlando, FL (United States). We're in the same time zone as you. No more waiting 12 hours for a technical response.

About the Team and the OperationWhat happens after the launch?

We don't disappear once the product goes live. We offer support plans to monitor performance, iterate based on real user data, and continue to evolve the platform—so you never accumulate technical debt.

How to Get StartedHow do we get started?

It all starts with a 30-minute video call. You tell us what you're building, we assess whether we're the right partner for you, and we give you an honest assessment. No pressure. No sales pitches.

Product Discovery

About the ServiceHow is Product Discovery different from software development?

Product Discovery happens before development. We define what to build, what to integrate from existing solutions, what to discard, how much it may cost, and what team you need. Decisions are made and validated with you, so development starts with a clear plan rather than assumptions.

About the ServiceWhat if we decide not to build the product after Discovery?

That can still be a successful outcome. If the process shows that the product is not worth the investment, you have avoided committing budget and resources to an initiative without enough potential.

About the ServiceAm I required to hire you for development afterward?

No. The outcome is designed to be executed by your internal team, another provider, or Activeone. The goal is to give you clarity to make the right decision—not to lock you into development.

About the ServiceDo you work with specific technologies, or are you technology-agnostic?

We are technology-agnostic. We choose technology based on the product's requirements, scalability, and impact on costs and operations—not based on our own preferences. We work with more than 50 technologies, including AI agents, Cloud-Native architectures, and Low-Code platforms.

About the Process and DeliverablesWhat is the difference between Blueprint Exploration and Blueprint Refinement?

Exploration is for exploring an opportunity and understanding the market before deciding what to build. Refinement is for products or ideas that are already defined and need to be turned into a clear, executable functional scope. If you're not sure which one you need, we'll define it during the exploratory call.

About the Process and DeliverablesWhen should I add Architect to my Blueprint?

When your project has technical challenges that require architectural decisions from the start: compliance, high scalability, critical security, enterprise integrations, or legacy systems. A senior architect defines the reference architecture and key technical drivers so your team can execute with clarity.

About the Process and DeliverablesWhen should I add Prototype to my Blueprint?

When you need to validate the experience before investing in development. We build a clickable, navigable prototype of the critical flow, covering up to 50 screens, so you can test it with stakeholders, investors, or early adopters. It is not a static mockup—you can actually interact with it.

About the Process and DeliverablesHow much time will the process require from me?

The Blueprint requires 3 to 4 sessions. Architect adds 2 sessions with your technical team, while Prototype adds 3 design review sessions. Your participation is active: you validate decisions, prioritize, and help determine what to build and what to discard. You don't simply receive a PDF at the end.

About the Process and DeliverablesHow often are the sessions held?

We recommend 1 to 2 sessions per week. This cadence keeps the project moving, preserves context between sessions, and avoids overwhelming your team. All sessions are scheduled at the beginning of the engagement.

About the Process and DeliverablesWhat happens if my product vision changes during Discovery?

That's normal. The process is designed to allow changes while they are still inexpensive. We can iterate on the idea during working sessions and in Figma, before those changes become development hours. It's better to change a decision when it only costs time than after it is already in production.

About cost and commitmentHow much does Product Discovery cost?

It depends on the Blueprint you choose—Exploration or Refinement—and the add-ons you need, such as Architect or Prototype. The Blueprint runs over 3 to 4 weeks, and each add-on has its own scope and timeline. Book an exploratory call and we'll prepare a quote tailored to your project, typically within a few business days.

About cost and commitmentWhat if I need more sessions or screens than included?

You can expand the scope when needed. We offer additional sessions and design packages, quoted separately and approved before any additional work begins.

About cost and commitmentDo you sign an NDA before we start?

Yes. We protect your information from the start. We can provide an NDA for signature before you share confidential product information or enter detailed technical discussions.

AI Teams & Talent

About the Fit and the WarrantyWhat if the engineer quits?

We'll replace it at no additional cost. It's part of the contract, not a favor. And it rarely happens—there's a reason our customer retention rate is 93%.

About the Fit and the WarrantyCan you quickly scale up from 1 to 10 engineers?

Yes. Our pre-screened talent pool at Active Recruitment allows us to scale up a full team in a matter of weeks, not months. Tell us your roadmap, and we’ll let you know how quickly we can put the team together.

On Talent and ValidationHow do they prove that they actually know how to use AI?

We don't rely on resumes. During the assessment, the candidate shares their screen and solves architecture problems in real time using agents and AI. If they don't perform well there, they don't make it into our pool. You can see this for yourself in their technical score before the interview.

On Talent and ValidationWhat is the difference between an Al-Native engineer and an Al-Powered engineer?

An Al-Powered engineer uses AI as a tool to speed up specific tasks (autocomplete, refactoring, testing). An Al-Native engineer designs their workflows around agents, harnesses, and spec-driven development from the very first commit. Our engineers use both approaches depending on what your project requires.

On Talent and ValidationAre they senior engineers, or just junior engineers in disguise?

Neither one nor the other: you define seniority based on your budget and your role. If you ask for a senior, we’ll bring in a senior. If you ask for a mid-level, we’ll bring in a mid-level. What we don’t do is pass one off as the other—the technical score is visible before you even interview them.

On Talent and ValidationWhere are the engineers from?

From LATAM—Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Brazil. All with certified fluency in English and experience working with teams in the U.S. Time zone compatible with your daily schedule.

About the OperationWho is the engineer's legal employer?

We do. You don't have to deal with employment contracts, taxes, benefits, or HR in another country. We handle all of that. You manage the work. The engineer reports to you on a day-to-day basis.

About the OperationHow do you handle security and access to my systems?

Engineers work with your credentials, under your policies, and with your controls. We’re not the ones granting access

— you are. If your company requires device management, VPNs, or additional background checks, we comply.

About the Non-Technical BuyerI'm not a techie. Is this for me?

Yes. You provide the business goals and metrics. Our talent translates them into code. We speak your language: ROI, time-to-market, user retention. If you’re interested in the “what” rather than the “how,” you’ll likely need a Dedicated Squad rather than an individual engineer—or consider adding a Product Manager from our pool to serve as a bridge between your vision and the technical team.
